Rejected invoices, SIAT system errors, CUFD mismatches, and offline transmission failures — Bolivia's SFE breaks in predictable ways. Here's how to diagnose and fix each one fast.
A rejected invoice in the SFE system means the SIN's server received your invoice data but refused to validate it. The rejection always includes an error code — learning to read these codes is the fastest way to resolve issues.
The NIT you entered for the buyer doesn't exist in the SIN registry, or has a typo. This is the single most common rejection cause.
You're invoicing for a service or product category that your SIN registration doesn't include. Common for businesses that expand their services without updating their economic activity registration.
The date on the invoice is more than 5 days in the past or in the future. Most common when invoices are backdated or when system clock drift occurs on offline devices.
The invoice amount is zero, negative, or formatted incorrectly (commas instead of periods as decimal separator, or extra spaces).
SIAT (Sistema Integrado de Administración Tributaria) outages are the most frustrating SFE problem because the error isn't yours — the government's system is simply unavailable. But your obligation to invoice doesn't pause.
Your options when SIAT is down:
Do not simply skip invoicing during a SIAT outage and issue the invoice days later with the correct date. Backdating an invoice after a SIAT outage without using the contingency or offline mechanisms is an invoicing irregularity — even if the underlying sale was real.
The CUFD (Código Único de Factura Digital) is the unique identifier assigned to each invoice by the SFE system. CUFD errors typically appear when there's a mismatch between what your software generated and what the SIN expects.
Common CUFD issues:
Set a CUFD low-stock alert in your SFE software. Refreshing at 20% remaining gives you enough buffer to request and receive new codes before exhaustion — which would halt your invoicing entirely.
You issued invoices in offline mode, but when your device reconnected, the transmission failed or showed errors. This is one of the most urgent SFE problems because the 24-hour window is already ticking.
Troubleshooting steps:
When an invoice has an error that can't be corrected (wrong NIT, wrong amount, wrong service description), you must annul it and reissue. The annulment process is strict:
If your client reports an invoice error in a different month from when it was issued, you cannot annul — you must issue a credit note for the full amount of the incorrect invoice, then issue a new correct invoice. Annulling across months is not permitted in the SFE system.
The RCV (Registro de Compras y Ventas) is your monthly sales and purchase ledger, due by the 9th of the following month. Reconciliation errors here are serious — they affect your IVA declaration and can trigger audit flags.
Common RCV errors and fixes:
The best SFE troubleshooting is prevention. These practices eliminate most common errors before they occur:
Most SFE problems are caught too late because businesses only look at their invoicing status when something goes wrong. A 15-minute weekly audit of your transmission log catches 90% of issues before they become penalties.
